About Me

Hello! My name is Jasline, and I’m a forever-21-year-old girl (heh heh) living in Singapore who love bake, cook and enjoy good, quality food at all times.

I love the look of chocolate cakes, the crispiness in cookies, the aroma of coffee and tea, the tartness of strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, the cuteness of cream puffs and éclairs, the prettiness in cupcakes, the melt-in-your-mouth-feeling in mousses, the softness in ice creams, the chewiness in brownies, the spikiness in the smell of spices, the amazingly comforting tarts… and I extra-ly love the smiles of others when they sink their teeth into all kinds of food I make.

I was first introduced to baking when I’m 14, when my mother bought home a round cake pan to bake a butter cake. What really got me into this whole world of baking, however, was when I baked chocolate oatmeal cookies for my tuition teacher (and that was my very first recipe that I’d baked). She was the first person to compliment my baking and was the one who encouraged me to take up baking. And that, was how I started.

I’m inspired to create this food blog because I want to share the food that I love with all the others around me, and also after being an avid reader of many other wonderful food blogs for these past few years. I’m no culinary expert, I just want to prove that without a fantastically big oven and a branded mixing machine, yummy cakes and crispy cookies can still be whipped up in an un-air-conditioned, small home kitchen. Of course I do have dreams to get the fantastically big oven and a branded mixing machine, but right now I’m pretty much contented with what I have right now (I think. Ha ha.).

I have a weakness for cookbooks and baking equipment. One can never have enough cookbooks and bakeware – that is something that I strongly believe in. :p But right now I’m gathering most of my recipes from all the great food blogs all over the world and I have so many recipes that sometimes I’m lost in my next-to-bake-list.

A magic that I’ve always believed in while baking and cooking – is to put in all my heart (not literally, ha). The thought of wanting someone to like what I’ve baked and cooked has somehow help my cakes and cookies to turn out edible, and sometimes getting raves over it.

I’m an amateur and I know I have much to learn. But I hope you’ll be able to find enjoyment in reading my blog! :)

To me, baking is an art, an enjoyment and it is inspirational.

I’m a lover of food, food is my lover: food is my life. :D

  1. Hello. i was searching for an easy pie crust that I could use to make tarts with. After going here and there i stumbled onto your website..The “food is my life” caught my eye! I have a pie cherry tree and this year it was big enough and full enough to harvest. I picked them all myself and followed a recipe to make two cherry pies…What a disaster! The juice did not gel at all! I removed them from the crust (frozen) and added cornstarch…MISTAKE number 2!! The juice turned white! it looked terrible! So I washed them off and they are still tart and yummy but i have NO crust. That is what I was searching for. I am going to try the frozen pastry puffs (unless there is frozen tart pockets??) I’ve waited three years for these cherries…. I must save them and I think you have helped. Thank you so much and I will be back to check out some of your other recipes. You have the secret my mom taught me..Cook with love in your heart and your food will nourish the body and the soul!” Your web site is excellent!

Hi John! Thank you so much for visiting the site (: I do hope you can find some recipes that you like! Do share with us if you have any interesting recipes! (:

    • Hey Lilian! I’m so glad I got to meet you too (:

Haha yea I’ll try to update more often but examination period is reaching soon, so I think it’s going to be difficult :(

Thank you for the link to the food blog! I will definitely need it when I go Ipoh (: Hope you can have a blog soon, it will be so cool!

Hope to see you around in school! (:

  2. Salutations! The abundance of recipes in this blog is mind-blowing!

Hope you continue updating it as I had a wonderful time reading up all the recipes.

Thanks for sharing and god bless! :)

  3. I was looking for a recipe for Bailey’s Cheesecake to make for Christmas (at the request of my daughter’s boyfriend). That was two hours ago ! What a wonderful website! Your photos are worthy of publication in a cookbook and are inspiring me to try more than just the cheesecake recipe. I am now a fan and that is the first time I have ever joined in online. Congratulations and keep up the fabulous site.

  4. Hello, I am very new, but Donna said you gave ma an award. Thank you so much! I am so sorry it took me so long to find out. I am not very good with computers:]

You’re welcome! It’s alright, I’m glad you like the award and manage to find it!

    Take care!

  5. Hi Jasline,

I am a fan of your blog. I thought you will be an awesome candidate for the research I am working on. I am trying to understand how many food bloggers will be willing to buy and sell their awesome food in their community/neighborhood.
    Here are my two questions:

    1. Will you be interested in selling your baked/cooked goods to people in your community/neighborhood? (It may be once/few times a week, or even just once every month. Whenever I have some time, I bake more than what my family can eat in day or even in a few days. I would love to give away or sell the rest)
    Yes/No

    2. If so, how frequently will you be able to cook for someone in your neighborhood? (The quantity need not be big, just a single cake for a birthday/anniversary)
    Once a week
    Few times a week
    Once in a fortnight
    Once in a month
    Once in a while

    Thanks for your time.

    • Thank you Archana, and I’m honored. (: Here are the answers to your questions:

      1) I’m interested in selling the baked goods but currently I have limited resources (small oven and little time as I’m working full time). In addition, in Singapore, one needs to apply for a license in order to sell food (this is due to hygiene purposes). Currently, I simply giveaway the extra baked goods in order to get more reviews on how I can further improve on them.

      2) The answer to this question would be once a week or fortnight. I try to challenge myself to bake / cook every week so that I will try out new recipes and improve on my baking/cooking skills.

I hope these answer your questions! (:

  6. I’m always fascinated by bakers and those who really love it, because I come from the opposite side of the spectrum. I *LOVE* cooking, savory foods, and the element of tossing in ‘a bit of this or some of that’.. as opposed to the finite measuring required. I look forward to reading your blog!

    • Thanks Michelle! I agree, baking requires more finite measuring while cooking is more relaxed and there’s actually no real recipe because some likes it saltier while some likes it less peppery. I had a bit of problem when I started out cooking (because I tend to follow the recipe to the T), but I’m gradually getting the hang of it! Thanks for dropping by (: Can’t wait to see more delicious dishes in your kitchen! ;) Take care!

  7. Here is very nice… I found here from BAM’s Kitchen. We like your recipes…

And congratulations for all these important awards… Keep sharing pls…. Never give up :)

  8. ….love the aroma of coffee and crispness of cream puffs;) I am self taught person in baking, don’t even know how it started but I was 16, at that time in India and now my daughter is 16 who has no interest in baking but enjoys baking TV shows.

Due to my dietry restrictions I do not bake as much as I used to do. You are right in saying baking is an art ;) Nice meeting you throu my Guru, Choc Chip Uru.

    • Hi Balvinder, thank you so much for visiting! I rely on videos and TV shows to be my “teacher” in cooking and baking ;) Your blog is so interesting! Vegan baking is something I wish I could venture into, I have a cookbook on vegan baking but I’ve not tried it yet because the ingredients are harder to come by and are more expensive. I really enjoyed reading your blog, have a great week ahead and take care!
